Tour description:
The nature reserve is a spectacular protected area located in the Tanga Region of Tanzania, in tropical East Africa. It was established in 1997 in order to preserve the unique Flora and Fauna of the East Usambara mountains. The Biodiversity Hotspot in Africa is approximately 3450 species of vascular plants recorded in the Usambara mountains over one quarter are likely to be endemic or near-endemic. In addition to the variety of plants, the mountains host a number of endemic or rare fauna species including, the Usambara Eagle Owl and Viviparous frog species. There are several hikes available such as Kwamkoro Tea Estate, Mbomole Hill, Derema Waterfalls, the Butterfly project, and the famous Chameleon/Tree Frog night walk.

Itinerary

Day 1: Tanga city to Amani
After breakfast at 08h30 picked you up at your Hotel in Tanga city with your professional driver guide then road drive to Amani Nature Reserve, upon arrival at the main gate you start by a walking/hiking tour passing through various patches of forest to show you endemic African violets. The floristic composition is very diverse and there are 2012 vascular plants species per hector. Thus a large proposition of the endemic species is found within Amani Natural Reserve. In addition to the variety of plants, the mountains host a number of endemic or rare fauna species, including the Usambara eagle owl and a viviparous frog species. Lunch to be served at one of the places within the reserve before Dinner and overnight at Camping or Lodge. On FB

Day 2:  Stop at Amani Nature Reserve in Tanga City
After breakfast continue for a full day hiking, trekking, and visiting other places of interest within the nature area i.e waterfalls, plantations, and the Butterfly project, Lunch to be served at one of the local restaurants, then road transfer to Tanga town and check in at Dolphin Hotel before overnight.
