Nyerere National Park also known as Selous Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, from major predators such as lion and leopard, to Nile crocodile and one of the world’s largest populations of hippo, plus big herds of buffalo and elephant roaming the woodlands. The park is also home to one of the largest wild dog populations in Africa
Among the rarer animals, you might spot black rhino, Nyasa wildebeest, sable antelope, eland and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest. There are more than 400 recorded bird species in the reserve, including Pel’s fishing owl
In the morning after breakfast (around 7:30 AM) your safari guide will arrive at the hotel and inform the receptionist that he is waiting for you. After meeting up with your driver you will pick up from your hotel in Dar-es Salaam for the morning flight to Nyerere National Park/Selous (taking 40mins depending on the flight).
Upon arrival at Mtemere Airstrip in Selous, you will be met and greeted by our driver guide for a full day game drive (8 to 9 hours) with picnic lunch boxes then you will do boat safari along the Great Rufiji River to spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds.
Thereafter, you will be transferred to Mtemere airstrip for your flight and arrive in Dar-es-Salaam where your driver will take you back to the hotel.
