Amani Nature Reserve is a spectacular protected area located within the Muheza and Korogwe Districts in the Tanga Region of Tanzania, in tropical East Africa. The nature reserve was established in 1997 in order to preserve the unique flora and fauna of the East Usambara Mountains. In the Biodiversity Hotspot in Africa, approximately 3450 species of vascular plants recorded in the Usambara mountains over one quarter are likely to be endemic or near-endemic. In addition to the variety of plants, the mountains host a number of endemic or rare fauna species including the Usambara Eagle Owl and Viviparous frog species. There are several hikes available such as Kwamkoro Tea Estate, Mbomole Hill, Derema Waterfalls, the Butterfly project, and the famous Chameleon/Tree Frog night walk.

Hiking Mbomole Hill, Hiking is the most popular activity in Amani Nature Reserve, as the forest offers many trails through the beautiful untouched habitat. Mbomole is the highest peak in Amani Natural Reserve. This hiking is taking one hour up and about half that coming down. A nice time to experience this is to hit the summit around sunset time and watch the final hunts of the resident falcons and the hornbills coming in to roost.
