Marangu Waterfall (Kinukamori) is located in Chagga Land in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Its crystal clear water originates in the natural springs of volcanic rocks on Kilimanjaro. You will be able to visit Marangu on top and bottom. This picturesque spot is great for swimming or just relaxing and enjoying the refreshing breeze from the waterfall.
Itinerary:-
In the morning, your guide will have a drive to Marangu Gate (1900m), Expect to experience an abundance of nature, culture and culinary. You will have the opportunity to take pictures of the mighty marvelous Kilimanjaro and get a sense of the spirit of the mountain. The area around Marangu is home to the local Chagga tribe and you will learn all about their rich history and traditions on this full day expedition. Our second stop will be visiting a small coffee farm, where you will learn about how the coffee is grown, harvested and processed locally. You will try with your own hand in processing, roasting and preparing a fresh cup of coffee. Once you have finished enjoying your coffee break, we will depart for the spectacular Ndoro Waterfalls. Our hike to the base of the waterfall will lead us through lush green landscape and the descend takes approximately 1 hour. Here you have the opportunity to relax and swim in the pool of the waterfall. Another highlight to accomplish will be the visit to the Chagga Underground Caves and the Chagga Live Museum.
Years back, during drought Maasai migrated up the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro in search of food and water. They enslaved and killed the local Chagga people. In defense of these attacks the Chagga built an extensive network of underground caves. Your guide will lively illustrate you the whole story of the conflict between Maasai and Chagga while you visit the caves. We then continue to spend some time at the Chagga Live Museum, a small outdoor museum that will give you further insides into traditional Chagga life. Our tour also includes a Chagga culinary taste, when we stop for lunch in a small restaurant. Here you will be served a traditional hot meal, later you will also have the chance to try the local spirits such as banana beer and wine. In the evening, we will drive back to Moshi.
Itinerary:-
After early breakfast, you will drive to the village of Materuni, the village is about 1,800M above the sea level. We start the day with a visit to a small coffee farm and find out about how the coffee is grown, harvested and processed locally. You will strive with your very own hands in processing, roasting and preparing a sparkling cup of coffee within the local Chagga manner. Soon after you finished enjoying your coffee, you will have a stunning 45 minute hike through the hills and valleys to the Materuni waterfalls. Alongside the way, your guide will interpret to you about local flowers and the way they may be used for food and conventional medicinal drug. The waterfalls are hidden in a pristine valley with cliffs towering up to 200ft overhead. The waterfalls instantly down in small pool which you can loosen up, take lunch and swim in the chill mountain waters. This is an experience with full of herbal beauty, attractive education, and preparation of coffee. In the evening we will go back Moshi.
